The Edmonton Oilers had Grant Fuhr in goal for them during the 80s, and Bob Wardle always reminded me of Fuhr due to the fact when Wardle got hot like the Oiler Goaler, it was almost impossible to score on him, and Bob was more hot than he was cold. I admit I was sure surprised when he pulled of his mask and it was 56 year old Bobby Wardle. The Old Timers absolutely shelled the local goalie, but not many goals were being scores, till the referee stopped the play, and asked the goalie to lighten up and not to be so competitive. This guy was pretty funny, calling the play by play as he reffed. Bob Wardle mentioned to me recently he had the most trouble with Dave Russnell of Trail, Harry Smith of Trail, and Billy Martin of Rossland, who could really shoot the puck.
